Remember. {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Holly Michigan}

It's a day to give thanks to those who have served and are serving our country. Thanks to my step brothers who continuously volunteer for tour-after-tour. It seems like as soon as one gets back the other one is on his way out... thinking of you today.

Jon and Bill, before we said good-bye before their last tour...

Lazy Dayz. {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Holly Michigan}

It hasn't been so lazy around the boutique this morning...It's been a morning full of final fittings and training maids of honor how to lace up the bridal gown just right...and calming nerves of a fretful bride the day before her wedding!

Taking a second before our next appointment to wish you all a very happy long weekend! We have decided to take a long weekend ourselves! We'll be back in action bright and early Tuesday morning!! At this very second we're contemplating a weekend road-trip or just staying around the house and being lazy...as our cat Mary already has a jump start on!

Lounging in the sun, feet up, watching the tv...as content as can be! This is what we hope our weekend and yours is like... wherever we end up!

Be Inspired. {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Holly Michiagan}

Okay. So the honeymoon may be over and now I'm definitely in the nesting stage! Constantly inspired by DIY home projects...{that I usually never do}...this one actually let me use a skill I can do! ....Digital!

I love a good quote just as much as the next guy... but these phrases summed up a lot that Mike and I try to do in our daily lives...and acts as a reminder!

A blog that I was following showed this big drawn out project on how she took some phrases, printed them out, pasted them on a canvas, painted over them, removed them, glossed them...and on and on... but I choose digital as an easier solution!

I was happy when I finished the creation and happier that I sent it in and had it in my hands! But now it's stuck on my fridge! Looking forward to the weekend to either frame it or mat it or what have you...and maybe start a new project :)

Picture on the right is the inspiration, picture on left is my adaptation....

Want your own copy!? Just let us know! Only $19 for the print!

We can always make it say something different too!

Memory Makers {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Downtown Holly Michigan}

I actually inspired myself a little while blogging yesterday. As I hope to give all you Brides and followers a little inspiration here and there, I was surprised that I was taking a dose of my own post! As I typed out my favorite lyric from 'Swing Life Away' I realized that I found the quote I was looking for to spruce up the space over our bed! A little love quote as you fall asleep and wake up next to the one you love never hurt anyone!

And my girlfriends just started their own little business that can help me with just that....Memroy Makers!

So far they've gone crazy with their Cricut machine making scrapbooks, birthday cards and invites, bridal shower cards...you name it! A few weeks before my wedding I had seen a picture of a love quote banner strung from tree limb to tree limb in a couples outdoor wedding ceremony... and I thought, what a perfect way to include one of our favorite quotes into our day! Colleen and I found the perfect solution to making our banner...vinyl! {I'm not the best with paint, so I knew if I tried to paint the words on I would eventually spill ad splatter!} The vinyl works exclusively with the Cricut machine and Colleen was gracious enough to not only let me using her machine - but just went ahead and made it for us! It turned out just as we wanted and it is now draped in our home!

And since then she has taken vows from our friend Samantha's wedding and made the perfect wall decor for over their bed! And I think I just may have to do the same with our favorite lyrics! What a perfect way to dress up a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, laundry room with cute sayings! I've even been suggesting them to other business owners for wall business logos!

Let's see, I'll take a wall quote for the home, a business logo for the boutique and some pre-made bridal shower/wedding cards please!

They've also really gotten into taking all your personal photos and scraping them for you! Do you have a box of your wedding pictures that need some lovin? Send them to the girls and they will create a beautiful scrapbook just for you! And of course, if you want to supply your own papers and embellishments I have to mention Creative Memories! As a "here and there" consulant for Creative Memories over the years I've really come to love how they stay up on modern scrapbooking! I love some of their new wedding kits!

Laboring Love. {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Downtown Holly, Michigan}

I thought I was safe in the crying department now that the wedding is over. I anticipated balling as I made my way up to Mike at our ceremony...but I was able to keep it together for the most part...nothing a glass of wine can't handle! But I was so scared because most mornings on my way to the boutique I would put on the 'wedding play list' on my iPod and find myself tearing up as I merely thought about the lyrics and how they pertained to Micheal and I.

I thought I was in the clear this morning...but boy was I wrong! I put in a mixed cd {sounds so 1990s} appropriately named 'Love Mix' that I made for and stole back from Mike...It was full of first dance song choices for our wedding...and on came 'Swing Life Away' by Rise Against....*tear*

"if love is a labor....i'll slave til the end"

We ended up dancing our first dance to Coldplay's 'Yellow'... another song full of great lyrics....and it was even more special because I also walked down the isle to 'Yellow', just in the form of The Vitamin String Quartet! Double dose of a great song!

Prom! {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Downtown Holly, Michigan}

Prom. It's a right of passage and it's most likely a night you'll never forget! Loving the pictures that a client emailed me last night of the dress she bought from Something Blue...and I'm reliving glory days! I know that look on her face, full of the nights anticipation!

We no longer have prom and homecoming gowns in the boutique...we've gone strictly sample wedding gowns and new order bridesmaids dresses...however we are anticipate having a limited time homecoming sale in the late summer!! Some of the ladies I help sell gowns for have rooms full of formal gowns, so I thought why not bring a little punch of color amongst our gorgeous whites and ivories!

Lovely Sheridan, full of style and spunk! She looks comfortable and confident...the best accessories to any dress!

Style '1904' you say? Reminds me of one of Mike and I's favorite songs, '1904' by Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Great Thursday morning jam! Going into Itunes right now to put Phoenix on rotation!

{Blog Love} The Wedding Chicks {Something Blue Bridal Boutique, Holly Michigan}

I've been gone.... getting married! But I'm back now and ready to keep sharing inspiration with you! But don't worry! We'll be dishing all the details about our wedding soon! I figured you just might want some pictures to go along with it....so we'll keep you waiting til we get our professional pictures back from Kel Leigh Coale Photography & Design!

For now I will leave you with a great blog that helped keep me always inspired, The Wedding Chicks!
I just loved this photo because it reminds me of a phone call I got from an aunt just days before the wedding asking if my cousins,
{9 & 7}, could wear their cowboy boots with their new suits!
And the Bride said: 'Come as you are!'
